The valley of Sham is located in Ladakh and is also known as the apricot belt. Exotic mountain fruits like apples, apricots, and walnuts may be found in abundance along the entire route from the village of Nemo all the way to Da, Hanu and beyond, across the border into Gilgit and Baltistan. Apricots are an incredible fruit that are packed full of vitamins and anti-oxidants, but due to their limited shelf life, apricots need to be processed or preserved in order to be consumed later.
